Who We Are

Boardwalk Realty and Development is a Virginia based corporation that has been in business since 1983. We are a fully licensed real estate broker with all required permits to operate. Whatever your real estate needs may be, we have the skills, experience, and track record to meet them.

Our History

Since the mid 1980s, our company and its affiliated partners have worked across hostelries, food and beverage operations, residential and commercial construction, multi family housing projects, expert witness assignments, and commercial real estate appraisal.

By the mid 1990s, we shifted our primary focus to the purchase, renovation, and management of apartment communities, hotels, and vacation rentals in the Ocean View and Willoughby areas of Norfolk and the Virginia Beach Resort Area. We grew up in the hotel industry, managed hostelries for many years, and naturally transitioned into short term vacation rentals.

Our Commitment to Guests

Over the years, we have managed many rentals on or near our local beaches. As a vacation rental management company, our focus is simple, create a great guest experience and always be available when needed.

We take great pride in every property we offer. Because many of our rentals are located in residential neighborhoods, we screen all guests carefully.

We only accept guests who meet the following requirements:

• Good reviews from all prior hosts

• Minimum age of 25

• No pets, no parties, no excessive noise, no crowding, no disrespectful behaviour, no domestic issues, and no criminal activity

To support our good neighbour policy, our rentals include decibel meters to detect excessive noise, occupancy levels, and device counts. Outdoor surveillance cameras are in place for exterior monitoring only.

Parking and Property Rules

To ensure available parking for our guests, we use decal controlled parking. Each reservation includes one parking space unless otherwise agreed.

We do not allow work vans, trailers, RVs or boats. Larger vehicles including pick up trucks, vans, Escalades, Suburbans, and Excursions have designated parking areas.

Maintenance and Housekeeping

We treat maintenance and housekeeping as long term investments. We replace items as needed and keep every property in excellent condition.

Because of our size and hands on leadership, we adapt quickly to guest needs and respond without delay. When you call us, you may reach the company president directly.

Our maintenance team has had very little turnover for almost 30 years. We have fully restored every property within two to three days after hurricanes, floods, snowstorms, and high winds. Our core staff and owner personally worked on renovating and constructing nearly every unit over the years.

Our Connection to Beach Communities

We have a strong affinity for beachfront living. If a property is not within a few blocks of the beach, we are not interested. We value the relaxed and welcoming atmosphere that beach communities offer.

From mid April through early November, you will rarely find us wearing formal business attire. Outside work hours, we enjoy fishing, sailing, surfing, and spending time outdoors.

Our Properties

Most of our Norfolk properties are 100 to 120 years old. Each has been fully renovated and modernised while keeping as much original character as possible. These homes often have quirks and charm that guests appreciate.

Our rentals are close to the beach and conveniently located near military bases, Interstate 64, airports, universities, and downtown Norfolk, Hampton, and Virginia Beach.

Our Reputation

Because of our consistent and professional management practices, we maintain a strong reputation with the City of Norfolk, the City of Virginia Beach, and all major reservation platforms. We have been an Airbnb Superhost since 2019.
